knitting blanket
It was my son's birthday. I've planned to inflate a lot of colorful balloons, bake a cake and make a party. Instead, I had appendicitis and I was taken to a hospital. We made the party later, but for now, I knit a blanket in the company of my cat.

how to knit simple cable blanket
I needed the blanket about 160x120 cm (60x45 inches). The knitting cable is actually easier than any lace pattern.
For this project, I bought the pink yarn Steinbach Wolle (20% wool, 80% acrylic) and used knitting needles 4 mm (US 6).
This pattern is a multiple of 16 and plus an additional 20 for the border. For my blanket, I cast on 180 stitches (160+20).
Border Rows 1-12: Seed Stitch (K1, P1)
Now start with the pattern (view the picture):
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7:
Seed Stitch for 8 stitches (K1, P1), place marker for the border. *K4, P2, K8, P2* till last 12 stitches, K4. Place marker for the border and Seed Stitch to end.
Seed Stitch for 8 stitches (K1, P1), place marker for the border. *K4, P2, K8, P2* till last 12 stitches, K4. Place marker for the border and Seed Stitch to end.
Row 2 and all even rows:
8 sts Seed Stitch, *P4, K2, P8, K2* till last 12 sts, P4, Seed Stitch to end.
8 sts Seed Stitch, *P4, K2, P8, K2* till last 12 sts, P4, Seed Stitch to end.
Row 9: 8 sts Seed Stitch, *K4, P2, slip 4 sts on cable needle and hold in BACK. K4 from left needle, K4 from the cable needle, P2* till last 12 sts, P4, Seed Stitch to end.
Row 10: 8 sts Seed Stitch, *P4, K2, P8, K2* till last 12 sts, P4, Seed Stitch to end.
Repeat Rows 2 to 10 until blanket measures the desired length.
Repeat Border Rows 1-12 and bind off knit-wise. Assemble ends and make sure to block.
The blanket is very soft and warm, as I wanted. It is ideal for dressing a bed and keeping toes warm. More information in my Ravelry.

we were in London
This summer I was the first time in London! The city of my dream. It looks beautiful, compact and full of friendly people. A lot of flowers, clean streets, narrow houses.
The traffic is strange for me, all the cars, motorcycles, bikes are moving on the left side of the road. Unusual and strange.
We visited the Historical Museum. I was amazed by many huge dinosaurs. Look at this one - about 20 meters long from nose to end of a tail! Here is a bigger dinosaur too, about 100 meters long! I recommend to visit the museum and look.
The London Eye - of course, we admired the view of the city from the capsule of the huge wheel. Greenwich, London See Life, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge... all these attractions must see :)

healthy and tasty granola recipe
Homemade granola is so easy to make yourself, and it tastes so much better than store bought. I prefer making my own granola so that I can control exactly how it tastes. I love lots of nuts and seeds, and I use honey instead of sugar.
Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats (not steel cut or quick cooking)
2 cups raw nuts, chopped (eg. almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts)
1 cup raw seeds (sunflower and pumpkin seeds are great)
1 tbsp your favorite spice (eg. cinnamon, pumpkin spice, gingerbread mix)
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup melted butter or coconut oil
Preheat the oven 140C/280F. Line a large baking tray with baking paper. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Spread on baking tray and bake until golden, approximately 30-40 minutes, stir every 10 minutes. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container or a jar for up to 2 weeks.
We eat our granola on Greek yogurt, with milk like cereal, and just plain for a quick snack.

We were at Truck Show in Tallinn this weekend. We have seen artistically designed and tuned heavy-duty vehicles and vans. The day had rich program and was packed full of action and entertaiment. Some photos of the day:
We were excited of show with extreme stunt motorcyclists.
The strongmen lifted weights, the children watched the puppet theater, and in the evening was fireworks. The exhibition of vehicles and show was really cool!

sunny cat
There are most people, who have a dog or a cat, or the both - I think. In our family we have a black cat. She is fluffy, curious, likes simple things like boxes and paper bags, likes to play with paper pieces and her purrs calm us down.
But today I show a sunny cat, that was knitted with a leftover yarn - it is a toy for my little son.
The pattern is written by Linda Dawkins and available on Ravelry.

budding shawlettes
Here is a lovely triangular shawlette knitted of 100% wool yarn. It is so lacy and soft. The size is 85 x 200 cm.
Another one shawl is knitted using 100% coton yarn, I used the same pattern, because it is easy to follow and fast to knit.
The pattern I've found on Ravelry, written by Joyce Yu - Budding Shawlette.

i wish i could draw
I'm trying to draw again. The result is not important, the object is not important, the process is important. I like to feel the facets of pencil and roughness of paper, to choose the colors and apply them on a paper. It is the same as meditation.
Have a great summer!

bullet journal
I've found a very simple planning method with Bullet Journal. It seems a really easy and successful.
All you need the notebook and pen. Just write tasks, events and notes; make collections and shopping lists; plan a vacation etc. Then strike out the completed points. It is easy to follow and move the undone points from one day to another day inside the journal, and identify what’s important and weed out the things that aren’t. And that's it all, just day-by-day.
bullet journal key ideas
I will try this planning method and hope to get rid of hundreds of Post-Its on my desk.
